I had a really good old sort out of my painty stuff last night and found goodies that I cant even remember buying - like a box of assorted Golden gel mediums and molding pastes - I couldn't resist having a little play and this is what I made -
The rose heart is a technique I used lots during my card making days - simply cut a heart from chipboard and starting from the outside, working in, attach rose buds until the chipboard heart is completely covered - I use a glue gun to attach the rose buds as I find it easier than using a wet adhesive.
A few squirts of Burnt Red Glimmer Mist were misted across the page, with more added to the top to create a dribble effect - makes note to ones self that the bathroom is probably not the best place to spray blood red Glimmer Mist at 2am in the morning - I awoke this morning to Hubs asking who had cut them self in the bathroom - opppppssss!!!
Time to experiment - I mixed some flesh tinted paint with a dab of Blonde Moments Suet Gold Pearl Pigments - love the metallic sheen that this gave the paint - then, I added a dollop of Golden soft gel gloss - OMGoodness - love, love, love the soft translucent effect that this gave the paint.....I wiped some of the paint around the edges of the page using my fingers and also applied some using the bubble wrap stamping method.
Ummmm - what next???? - how about a dollop of Coarse Pumice Gel mixed in to the left over paint???? WOW! Love the coarse sandy effect that this gives to the paint.....although it doesn't show up so well in the photographs!
I found what I thought were super sized alphabet stickers in my stash, but on closer inspection they turned out to be masks....so I used them to create the word LOVE. The other letters are Grungeboard alphas which have been painted with Gesso and then dabbed with Pearl Pigments before being outlined with a black Zig pen.
Finally I added some really old rub ons that were lurking in the bottom of a box (I think they may be from Cherry Arte???) and typed text which reads -
The rose speaks of
love silently
in a language
known only to
the heart
I love the different effects that were achieved by adding the mediums to the paint - they created great contrasts - the rough with the smooth - a bit like love really.
Sorry if Ive bored you half to death - I'm loving this experimental phase and really cant believe that I have had this stuff sitting around being ignored for such a long time - its great to play.
Have fun and thanks for passing by.

The experimenting is half the fun of art journaling...makes everything so free. Love this, you rock!
Think your new nickname has to be "The Mojo Maker" - you've really got me thinking about stuff I've had in drawers for years, leftover cardmaking scraps that I can re-use in my scrapbooking. LOve your journal - really beautiful - and the heart is just the sweetest little touch.
Oh my, you're having SO much fun with this ... and you're a natural!
Wow this looks like it could be lots of fun!!! I think the misting in the bathroom is hilarious...did that once near the window and didn't notice it was on the window, you should have seen my honeys face!!!
