Just my opinion!

I don’t know hat happened yesterday but there I was in my workshop busily playing away...Hubs was in the kitchen preparing Sunday lunch...the guys were having fun in the garde...all were very happy, when all of a sudden the most horrific headache hit me.
I could hardly keep my eyes open. The room was spinning and I was having real difficulty speaking. I plonked myself into bed and fell fast asleep. I didn’t wake until this morning!
Hubs bless him had sorted all the guys stuff out for school...he’d even made up the packed lunch boxes!

Thankfully Im feeling 100% and raring to go, which is a good thing cus I have three projects that I need to get finished today!

Have you seen The Design Collective goes live today?

I know there was some controversy surrounding the whole concept of paying to gain access to the projects provided by the DC girls, but what I can’t understand is this...

Why are there never any grumblings when others provide the same service?

I’ve seen classes promoted elsewhere by other designers and everyone has raved about them....never complaining about the cost etc.

We all hand over our hard earned cash each month to buy magazines...If you bought copies of both SI and TSBM it would cost you almost the same as the 10 quid it is going to cost each month to receive so many projects which are sure to inspire and educate.

There was a thread recently on UKS which really slated the recent content of the magazines...at least with the DC projects you know that what you are going to get is going to be so darn good! Just take a look in the UKS galleries of the DC girls...they are soooo inspirational and so talented. Each of the girls are blessed with their own unique scrappin style and this combination of styles means that almost every area will be covered.......this doesnt happen in the mags....well not of late anyways.

The whole point of people organising retreats is to make money isnt it?
So whats so wrong with the DC girls pooling all their talent and charging a very nominal fee for it? They have afterall invested their time, energy and talent to share? Surely they deserve something back?

I know how much planning has to go into planning retreats/workshops etc as Ive had a smal insight after organising my own one day workshops.

The workshop I held made naff all profit because I didnt want anyone going away feeling as if they had been short changed. We used up to date products and had the best teachers ever....2 of which are DC gals! Reports back from those who attended the workshop was fab and all had an excellent day....well they would wouldnt they after having 6 classes, all the food they could eat and the bestest teachers to lead them step by step through each class.

Attending retreats has cost me hundreds of pounds over the last year...combine the cost of getting there, accommodation and then the extras that are always on sale...the average weekend retreat costs in excess of 300 quid!

I know I would rather spend 10 spondoodlies a month to be inspired in my own home...to use the stash I want to use...these are after all my pages for my scrapbooks and I want to like them!

The only retreat classes I have ever truly enjoyed have been classes which just happen to have been taught by a couple of the DC girls...the projects I have created during these classes are still amongst the ones I adore the most....more of their classes landing in my inbox for pennies instead of pounds cant be bad. At least Hubs will be pleased that the credit card wont be taking such a bashing!

I feel very privileged to be serving on or to have served with some of the DC girlies on various design teams and have had the pleasure of meeting some of them in RL...they may be really talented scrappers but what matters most is that if you take away the scrappin side of things, these girls are really lovely people...they are just a bunch of gals who share a common passion.....they love to scrap...simple...nothing more than that.

They are just like you and I, only they took the initiative and acted upon it before anyone else did and I guess that’s why there was all the contention flying around.

I don’t need to wish the girls luck as they don’t need it...The DC is going to be a huge success and doesn’t need my lucky wishes at all. I will however congratulate them all on the time and effort they have invested in nurturing and creating this wonderful concept.

Cor that was a bit of a ramble wasnt it!

Anyways......

Just a little piccie from me today…..tis a bead I made yesterday before the headache hit.

Ive lots to do today....three projects to complete for DT work and then I want to crack on with Emilys challenge.

J pulled a name last night and the winner is....
